Big changes!

Vail mountain closed for the season on May 1st and on May 2 we got to crackin’ on an overhaul of Alpinhaus. We’re so excited about the progress we’re making.

First up, getting rid of the carpet in the main areas. (Whoever thought carpet at the entryway of a condo in the mountains maaaybe had too many apres cocktails on the day of their decision.) We’ve ripped that out and replaced it with a beautiful hickory luxury vinyl plank. It looks great and is waterproof, super durable, and offers easy peasy cleanup from winter boots. Hooray!

Next, the kitchen HAD to go. While it did (technically function), the hanging cabinets blocked a ton of light and divided up an already tiny place. Plus, do you remember those tiny half drawers that couldn’t hold more than a handful of utensils? BYEEEEE! We also found not one…not two…not three…but FOUR layers of flooring in the kitchen. We seriously just had to laugh at how absurd it was. We’ve taken out all the cabinets and replaced them with new (gorgeous blue!) cabinets in a layout that connects it to the living room AND allows for a dining table instead of being forced to eat off bar stools at the counter. It feels SO MUCH bigger in there now. We also got the water line run so now the fridge makes ice—no more manually making the cubes. We also added new —and more—lighting and a ceiling fan.

We also ripped out the old vanity in the bathroom and are working on a nicer one and updating that area as well.

We can’t wait for our first guests to enjoy the new space! Stay tuned for updated photos coming just as soon as we finish all the final details!

Still a work in progress but coming along great!
