Renovations done!

Hooray! I’m so excited to announce that our renovations are done!

So far they’ve been received super well by everyone and we couldn’t be more happy to share with you. As much as I loved the 70’s nostalgia updated with early 90’s nostalgia—it had to go. Especially those two random little kitchen drawers that only opened 4 inches. What was UP with that?!

There’s now much easier to clean/durable floors—complete with washable rugs, storage for all our kitchen items, and more room to actually walk around. I love all the light that comes into the kitchen now that the wall of cupboards is gone. I think my favorite part though is having a dining table. The way everything was configured before, there was not a really good spot for eating. The kitchen came out further into the room (even though it was smaller previously???) and so the only option was to make room for a microscopic table and shove the couch over for a cramped living area or just eat on the couch.

Now, I think a fair amount of us have had our couch dinners but something just hits different about having a table to sit at. It’s nice to have a dedicated space—even if it’s still petite.

We did all the tiles ourselves. Can I tell you how “excited” this girl whose afraid of heights was to climb up a ladder to lay tile all the way to the ceiling in the bathroom vanity area was? Not very. But I love how it turned out! It was worth the panic attacks.

With both of us being artists, we’re fairly drawn to the midcentury modern era of design however we also love our mountains! We tried to incorporate inspiration from both and mold that with what was reasonably available on the market (thanks pandemic supply chain issues) into a more modern take on the condo. Some sleek modern lines mixed with earthy and natural tones and textures formed our final aesthetic. We find it comfortably cozy/modern/relaxing. Which is everything we want in a getaway!
